The Program opens two application rounds. Candidates are encouraged to submit their application in the first round, as space in the class may be limited by the second round. In addition, applying in the earlier rounds will give international candidates more time to complete the scholarship application process along with the visa application process. Please find the dates and deadlines for application below which apply for both Thai and international applicants.

Admission Requirements:

 

1. Applicants must have a degree equivalent to a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university approved by Thammasat University
2. Applicants must provide one of official English language test scores as described in the table below;

* The test result must have been awarded no more than two years prior to the proposed date of enrollment.
* Native English speakers and candidates whose prior degrees are from a university where sole language of instruction is English are exempt from this requirement.

3. Applicants must fill out the brief details of research proposal including the title, the significance and objectives via the online application.

Applicants must provide all supporting details and complete the payment process of application fees. To complete the application process, candidates should complete the following steps:

2.1 Accompanying materials should be completed in English. Required
documentation such as transcripts, diploma/degree certificates and examination results must be accompanied by certified, literal (exact) English translations if documents are not issued originally in English. A failure to provide documents on request, or the discovery of either fraudulent documents or a misrepresentation of true circumstances in association with your application, may lead to the rejection of your application for admission, the withdrawal of your offer, or the cancellation of your enrollment.

For Thai candidates

- ONE Printed version of the completed application form (from Step 1)

- THREE Recent photos (1.5 inches size)

- ONE photocopy of official academic transcript

- ONE photocopy of Thai identification card

- ONE photocopy of English Proficiency Score Report (if applicable)

- Original bank slip of payment transfer for application fee (from step 2.2)

 

For International candidates

- ONE printed version of completed application form (from Step 1)

- THREE Recent photos (1.5 inches size)

- ONE photocopy of official academic transcript

- ONE photocopy of passport

- ONE photocopy of English Proficiency Score Report (if applicable)

- Original bank slip of payment transfer for application fee (from step 2.2)

 

2.2 Application Fee: Each application requires a non-refundable 800 Baht application fee in Baht currency. Given the fluctuation of exchange rates and banking fees, candidates must ensure that the full value of your 800 Baht payment reaches the Program.

STEP 3: Interview
An interview is required for admission in order to provide you with the opportunity to present a different view of your credentials to the Admission Committee.
However, completing an interview does not guarantee admission to the Program. All applicants, regardless of the round in which you intend to apply, are eligible to interview during the designated period. Interview arrangements will be held over the internet particularly for overseas application, an application category for those who reside outside Thailand at the time of application.

3.1 Interview Card:
For the candidates who reside inside Thailand during the application, the examination card issued by the Program will be able to collect in person or by post. For the candidates who reside outside Thailand during the application, the examination card issued by the Program will be sent in digital file through candidate’s email address.

 

3.2 The candidates called for interview should note as follows:
• All interviews are conducted in English by an admission committee.
• Interviews generally last 10 - 15 minutes.
• Appropriate business attire is needed for the interview.
• Display the citizen identification card, passport or any identification card issued by a government organization when identifying yourself with a Program staff upon registration for the interview.
• Display the examination card issued by the Program when identifying yourself with a Program staff upon registration for the interview.
• Common questions during the interview mostly concern research interests in accordance with the candidate’s submitted proposal.

 

STEP 4: Confirm intention to study and complete registration payment


The successful candidates must confirm their intents and register in the MA in ASEAN Studies Program by completing the following steps. Failure to do so will result in official rejection from the Program.

4.1 Complete the Confirmation Reply Form:
- Download and fill out the reply form from website.
-Please note that a hand written signature of candidates is required.

4.3 Payment by Money Transfer:

The Graduate School of Economics at Kyoto University offers scholarships for students of ASEAN Studies Program to enroll in and take two-month intensive courses with credits offered at the International Graduate Course for East Asia Sustainable Economic Development Studies (EA Course).
